Promoting the development of data storage business through standardization.

The standardization of data storage is being rapidly developed in China. One of the highlighted events for such development is the cooperation between Intel and UIT (United Information Technology). The cooperation will lower development and operation cost, enhance the flexibility and expandability of the data storage system, and simplifies data storage procedure.

The strong research and development capacity of UIT is the reason for the company to be recognized by Intel. UIT is a service provider with strong data storage technology research and development capacity in China. It brings forth the new development in applied storage, universal storage and cloud storage to satisfy the needs of Chinese customers. The next generation Intel data storage chip is based on Nehalem structure. The chip is specially designed for the use in embedded and storage system. It is equipped with solo, duo and 2 quad processors. The use of underclocking, hibernation and energy saving technology has created a breakthrough in the data storage chips in terms of bandwidth, data processing capability and energy saving. UIT will develop a series of products based on Intel next generation data storage chips, such as IP SAN, FC SAN, NAS, VTL, data duplication and encryption products. UIT will also fully utilize the 10G iSCSI, 8GB FC, FCoE, 6Gb SAS, SSC techniques. The latest products will be available in the market in the first half of 2010. Meanwhile, UIT and Intel will use the next generation storage CPU platform to develop the latest cloud storage system; virtualization software and SAN environment of manage heterogeneous models.

It is expected that the cooperation between UIT and Intel will open a new chapter in the standardization of Chinas data storage technology. China Software Industry Association president Chen Chong said China needs to develop its own brand in data storage for national data security. The core element of developing Chinas own brand is to make use of innovative technology and the latest in data storage technology. The cooperation between UIT and Intel will open a new era in the innovation of Chinas data storage industry and data storage standardization.
